Catch the Light

The sun had just cleared the horizon when I captured the light refracted in this glass ornament.

Icicles at Dawn

The icicles on the front of the house look so different in the early morning light!
I am sharing them with Friday Finds even if this is Monday...

Dawn Ice

The wind ruffled the small patch of open water, while the rising sun cast its golden light over the whole pond.
Getting closer, you can see the texture of the ice.
A different part of the pond, and the light has changed completely.

Ice

The weather has been cold enough that the pond is frozen over.
I love seeing the way the ice forms.

Dawn at the Carp River

We had snow all day yesterday, and then the temperature dropped.
It may look pretty, but it was censored cold!

Most of the geese have left for the winter,
but some of them are still here.

Skywatch Friday

I am fascinated with the steam coming from furnaces at this time of year. Much more active than clouds. A waning moon simply adds to the appeal.
I am linking this post with Skywatch Friday. Come check out what is appearing in skies around the world...

Dawn at the Carp River

One thing about this time of year -
I am up before the sun.
Some days there are clouds
to catch the early sun.
I love the way the trees are caught in silhouette
against the delicate colours.

Morning Marsh

Annie and I headed out for our Saturday walk just as the sun was clearing the clouds on the horizon, and catching the cattails in this blaze of gold. Jake is fine, just complaining that he is too old for long walks, now that he is 13...

Golden Morning

On a misty morning,
with the sun just over the horizon,
you can find gold...
I get back tomorrow!!

Dandelion Clock Says Dawn

We still haven't had a killing frost, so plants are still blooming.
I had to kneel in some thistles in order to capture this dandelion against the sunrise...

Mist and Geese

Early in the morning, the geese are discussing their plans for the day, before taking off.

Dawn Geese

I was walking beside the pond, when these geese rose from the river, where they could not see me over the cattails. Good thing they are noisy when they are preparing to take off, so I was prepared for them...

Milkweed at Dawn

After a week with the cold from hell, I was finally able to get back out for a walk. I captured these milkweed plants just after the sun rose over the houses that form the horizon.

Morning Light on the Ice

I was walking along the berm beside the pond, and caught the dawn light reflecting off the surface of the ice.

Skywatch Friday

The skies have not been too interesting this week, but there was a bit of colour this morning, while I was capturing the frost on the chicory plants.

Catching the Light

This is a post about sunrise,
but I am not looking at the sunrise itself.
 A couple of years ago,
I noticed the way the rising sun
caught the hydro wires and towers,
and I have finally managed to capture that.
It is a fleeting thing
so I have to get the three of us to the towers
in time to capture it before it fades.
Nature Footstep has included catching the light into her Monday Inspiring Photos.
