Skywatch Friday

I am fascinated with the steam coming from furnaces at this time of year. Much more active than clouds. A waning moon simply adds to the appeal.
I am linking this post with Skywatch Friday. Come check out what is appearing in skies around the world...

Dawn at the Carp River

One thing about this time of year -
I am up before the sun.
Some days there are clouds
to catch the early sun.
I love the way the trees are caught in silhouette
against the delicate colours.

Tree

This tree is about two thirds of the way between my parents' house and the hospital where my father has been since January.
I love the lines of it, and take some photos every time I am there.

Catching the Light

This is a post about sunrise,
but I am not looking at the sunrise itself.
 A couple of years ago,
I noticed the way the rising sun
caught the hydro wires and towers,
and I have finally managed to capture that.
It is a fleeting thing
so I have to get the three of us to the towers
in time to capture it before it fades.
Nature Footstep has included catching the light into her Monday Inspiring Photos.

Skywatch Friday

I couldn't decide whether to bring you moonrise, or sunrise today, so I am giving you both! I wish the contrail in the moonrise photo were more definite...
The sun blazing through the clouds created quite a lovely display.

Skywatch Friday

I couldn't decide which to post for Skywatch, so I have included all three. The moon at perigee, blossoms against the sky, and evening clouds.

Skywatch Friday

The moon has been playing peek-a-boo in the trees again, or flirting with the passing geese.

Dawn After Freezing Rain

Tuesday, we had a winter storm warning, with freezing rain
and snow. Turns out there was not so much snow,
but the rain froze on the branches and everything.
The morning light show was wonderful!!

Moon and Icicles

Yes, I know the quality is terrible, but that is what happens when the tripod is at home, and you are just leaving work.
I still love the captures...

Skywatch Friday

Early in the morning, the moon was still visible,
accenting the birch tree and the Christmas bells.

Skywatch Friday

The moon was rising in the east, as the sun
and the planes set in the west.

Skywatch Friday

I have been watching the moon in the western skies this week, between sunrise and moonset.
