Leaving the Light

I saw this duck swimming in the reflected light of late afternoon.

Snowy Tree

I love the way the snow accentuates

 the lines of this tree,

 and, of course, the way the water reflects it.

 

Contrails

It's been a good week for contrails,

 in the sky, and in the water.

 

Submerged

I was taking photos along a small stream, and this leaf, about an inch below the surface of the water, caught my eye.

Ice on Puddles

At the beginning of the week,

 the mornings were cold enough 

 that there was ice on the puddles.

Rudbeckia

My parents live in gardening zone 5a,

 so they still have flowers blooming which have finished here in 5b.

 

Lady's Thumbs

A member of the buckwheat family,

 smartweed subcategory,

 the lady's thumb is a pretty little plant,

 although it is another that is so common that many people do not even see it.

Water Over The Dam

Cedar Creek was dammed, many years ago, to make the pond in Southside Park. The water is only a couple of feet deep, but it provides a home to all the geese and ducks, and a couple of swans owned by the nearby city of Stratford.

 And it makes a lovely source of reflections of the sky.

This is my favourite photo from the koi pond at the flower show. 

 There were many mirrors, of all shapes and sizes, and translucent features, like this one, reflected in the water.

The sun is rising behind the clouds

so the colours are muted,

even when they are reflected in the water.

Goose Family

The Canada geese have managed to raise all five of their goslings this summer. The young ones haven't started flying yet, though.

There is not much green in the grass yet, but the ice is long gone now.

Moon in the Water

I have been exploring this idea for about a year. There are so few days when the moon is near enough the horizon that the water catches the reflection, that it is a slow process.

I need a certain amount of movement in the water, or the moon just looks as though it is in the sky.

Koi

The flowers surrounding the koi pool at the college were reflected in the water.
