Watery Wednesday

The ice is melting.

The rain will help.

If a Tree Falls in the Forest...

Jade Plant

There are three jade plants in the greenhouse. I asked approximately how old they were, and he guessed 25 to 30 years old. He said he has seen some that are 90. I cannot imagine how big the trunk on that one would be.

Two are the ordinary green, and one is variegated.

A Walk in the Dog Park

The sun was lighting up the clouds as we were getting ready to go to the dog park.

There is still a lot of ice in the woods. This is a half inch of water on top of ice. Just enough to reflect the sky and the trees, and splash. The next photo os a footprint with ice inside it.

Jake said the traction was fine for running, most places.

The sumacs are looking rather ragged after the winter.

Sometimes, a young tree will start growing either in or on top of an old stump. The stump dissolves, and the tree is left, slightly above ground level.

The birch trees often grow in clusters. They don't usually all die off at the same time, though.

The sky was lovely and blue when we were headed for home, and breakfast.

Today's Flowers

The crocuses that were in bud the other day, bloomed gloriously in the sunshine yesterday. There are many more buds now, but it is raining today, so I will take photos tomorrow, or the next day.

Dutchman's Pipe

One whole side of the greenhouse was covered with a vine called Dutchman's pipe.

It's not winter-hardy here, so I have never seen it before.

I think the flowers, when they are in this stage, look like hatchling dragons, or aliens of some sort.

Entry Hall

The short hall from the horticulture building into the greenhouse was lined with plants in picture frames.

One of the frames needed to be fixed before the grand opening of the show.

I enjoyed the way the plants did not stay within their frames, but sprawled through and around.

Spring Flower Show

I have finished editing the 300 photos, and will spend the next week or so showing you different parts of the flower show from the local college.

The brickwork of the greenhouse is a permanent setting.

But how each class chooses to decorate that setting is the interesting part.

I think there should be two chairs, don't you?

Skywatch Friday

The contrail was getting sunlight longer than the clouds were. The two specks in the second photo are geese, in case you wondered.

Sunset

It was a truly glorious sunset!!

Gold

See what greeted me when I got home from work last night!!!

I had spent an hour at the flower show at the college. I only took 300 photos. You will start seeing them after I finish editing.

Watery Wednesday

A misty August morning in 2007.

Fresh Ice

We have been having freezing temperatures, the last few days.

The water has been turned to ice in the mornings. It is all part of March, and the temperatures should improve today.
