First Frost

There was still frost on the leaves and flowers
in the shade
when we got to the rest stop last week.
Everyone else had to get snacks,
but I had to get images...

New Nephew

My older sister has a new puppy - Meko.
He is about 6 months old,
and loves to bedevil his big brother, Colby.
Meko can even make cousin Freddie take notice,
but it is not Freddie sitting up on his hind legs...

I'm Home Again!

Just to let you all know that I am back home, with all my textbooks. You knew that I could spend time visiting my Mom, but I had to spend time study, as well...
Mom seems to be settling in well. There are 128 residents, with a couple more being added every week, as a new room or two become available. Mom is on the ground floor of a four story addition. And the new dining room will be opened next month, so she has to decide which she will use - the one that gets her out for four walks a day (to and from lunch and dinner), or the one that is only an elevator ride away (but will she be disciplined enough to go for a walk each day...).
The view out the windows is a cemetery, but that just means the neighbours are quiet. The trees are all covered with golden leaves, and the ground as well.
This is the first place she has been able to make all the decisions about decorating, and I think she is enjoying it...
Good to be back, and photos will come...

Golden Morning

On a misty morning,
with the sun just over the horizon,
you can find gold...
I get back tomorrow!!

Morning Glory

There are still morning glories blooming -
or there were, on Monday, when I set up all these posts.
The edges are a bit ragged, and they are half the size of summer blossoms,
but they are blooming!!

Burning Bush

The burning bush that I have captured the last couple of years has been cut back.
Fortunately, there are a lot more of them now.
I love the odd little berries...
I am visiting my Mom, and will return on Sunday...

Grass

You know that cloud of grass you see sometimes?
Just a golden cloud of grass that has gone to seed?
Have you ever looked closely at it?
Try now - is that what you thought you would see?
I was astonished!
I am visiting my Mom, and will return on the weekend...

Reflections

Reflections in the pond, with a bit of mist thrown in...
I am going to visit my Mom for a few days.
I will be back on Sunday evening,
but I have left a post for each day I will be gone.
See you then!!

Dandelion Clock Says Dawn

We still haven't had a killing frost, so plants are still blooming.
I had to kneel in some thistles in order to capture this dandelion against the sunrise...

Nutmeg Scented Geranium

I brought my geranium and coleus plants inside for the winter, before the killing frost.
My nutmeg scented geranium is blooming, and I can't bear to cut the blossoms off it, even if that would be easier for its transition...

Spy Rock, Westport

See that pinkish area of rock, near the top of the hill, just right of the willows?
That is Spy Rock, above the village of Westport, on the Rideau Canal.
Looking out from Spy Rock, you can see a wide range of the countryside.
There are five or six steeples in view from Spy Rock, surprising in a village this size.

Mist and Geese

Early in the morning, the geese are discussing their plans for the day, before taking off.
I am linking this post with NF Winged.

Big Ben and Ian Miller

In the little town of Perth, Ontario, there is a life sized statue of Big Ben and Ian Miller.
Their home was nearby, and Ben is fondly remembered.

Asters and Virginia Creeper

I love the contrast between the pale asters and the Virginia creeper,
even if the creeper leaves are battered.
One of the joys of fall...
I am linking this post with NF Blo-Ma.

October Morning

There was fog on the river this morning,
till the sun came over the horizon.
Then everything was golden.

Busy Little Bees

We have not  yethad a killing frost, so the bees are still busy with the asters and any other flowers they can still find.
I am linking this with Nature Footsteps Winged.
