Icicles

Whether it is official or not,

winter is here, along with the white stuff and the icicles.

The temperatures are only around freezing,

so I was able to catch some falling drops...

Dawn Ice

The wind ruffled the small patch of open water, while the rising sun cast its golden light over the whole pond.

Getting closer, you can see the texture of the ice.

A different part of the pond, and the light has changed completely.

The weather has been cold enough that the pond is frozen over.

Patterns in the Ice

It's that time of year again...

I walk first thing in the morning, and the ice on the puddles makes for some interesting images.

The last of my images from the snow last week.

The day started with rain, and became colder.

Icicles

While I was admiring the icicles on the eaves,

I noticed that the ice had dripped onto one of the stems of sweet Cecily

 

and formed an interesting creation.

I am supposed to be home now, but give me a chance to get the photos edited, please...



Ice

One of the nice things about temperatures below freezing at night and above during the day

is the lovely formations of ice crystals that you can find

either beside the open water

or on the puddles.

I especially love them with the morning sun highlighting them.

I will be away for a few days, but I am leaving photos for you...





 

Stream

Friday's snowstorm has left a fresh blanket of white on the ground.

The stream is almost frozen over, but not snow-covered.

Leaf Trapped in Ice

One of the wonderful things about snow, is the way a dark object can become warmed by the sun, and sink into the snow.

Sunlight through Ice

During the thaw last week, the snow that had been on the fence melted into ice.

Morning Light on the Ice

I was walking along the berm beside the pond, and caught the dawn light reflecting off the surface of the ice.

Pond at Sunrise

I was standing beside the pond, admiring the golden light on the ice, and Jake walked into the photo.

 I'm not sure if he was admiring the light, or just wanting to get on with our walk.

 When I used the embossing feature, the houses across the road became more distinct than they are in the actual photos.
