Violets

The violets are blooming well in the back yard.
I like the raindrops on their petals.

Skywatch Friday

The weeping willows are starting to leaf out. For more scenes from the sky, click the icon on the right.

Wind Damage

We had some wind yesterday. I had to pull the boss out of a client meeting, when the wind blew the front door of the building off.
He took the door off the hinges, and called someone to fix it. Other clients said they had never seen a chartered accountant fixing doors before. The perils of being the landlord...

Easter Flowers

Some of the Easter flowers, against the stonework of the altar.
I have no idea what they are, but the edges look like they have been cut with pinking shears...

Turkey Vulture

I took a drive on Sunday, and saw this fellow coasting along, ahead of me.
By the time I reached him, he was perched on the roof of a house, surveying the terrain.
I took about 20 shots of him, and these are all the ones I kept. The house was posted, so I couldn't get any closer, and he saw no reason to move.

Watery Wednesday

Sunday was a lovely sunny day,
so I was out stalking pussywillows,
 and found this small stream.

Dutchman's Britches

The Dutchman's Britches are starting to bloom.
There was no sign of them on Friday!

Today's Flowers

The weather was lovely, so I took the dogs for a long walk this afternoon.
 The coltsfoot was blooming,
and I insisted we take a lot of photos.

Hepatica

And because I was out in the woods so early in the spring, I found another new flower.
I think these are hepatica blossoms.

Bloodroots

I thought it was still too early for the wildflowers
in the woods, but I went for a walk there anyway.
Imagine my surprise when I found the bloodroots
were blooming!

Dogtooths

I went for a walk in the woods, and found thousands of dogtooth leaves.

Coltsfoot Flowers and Ice

On my morning walk, I found the first of the coltsfoot flowers.
They thought it was still a bit nippy, so they were tightly furled.
You would have been too, with ice on the water 20 feet from you.

Amaryllis

Last fall, I brought my four amaryllis plants indoors, and put them in the basement, so they could bloom again. Well, one of them finally did. The first shot is taken with flash, and the second without. Which do you like better?

Begonia Blossoms

The begonia I inherited from my grandmother is blooming again.
Every time, I am amazed at
 the delicacy of the blossoms.
