Skywatch Friday

The Queen Anne's lace is almost done for the summer, and the flowers are closing up into the bird nest shapes they will hold for the winter.

Anise Hyssop

There is a lovely patch of anise hyssop near the walking trail, and I stop to admire it often. There are a couple bird feeders in the area, and the dogs prefer to check for squirrels...
The bees spend a lot of time here.

Spiders - You Have Been Warned

In these webs, the spiders are ready and waiting for their prey.

Spiderwebs

The weather forecast last night said there was likely to be mist this morning, but it was gone by the time I got out (only 7 :15...), but there was dew on the spiderwebs.
This web is three dimensional, enclosing the whole seedhead.
And I found two webs that I could capture in one shot.
But the last one is my favourite - the background is the pond!

Watery Wednesday

This purple loosestrife plant is so photogenic!

Black Squirrel

This squirrel decided I was not enough of a threat to disturb his breakfast.

Daylily

The daylilies outside Chapters caught my eye.
A different colour than I have seen elsewhere.

Landscape

The light was just perfect for some landscape photos.

Baby Pine Cones

I have been keeping an eye on the baby pine cones. Not much has changed in the last couple of months, but I like the comparison with the rain drops.

Milkweed

When you start looking carefully,
 milkweed is an interesting plant.
 (Sorry, George, but it is.)
I have been pulling the developing pods apart to see the still-white seeds and the structure of the pods.

Russian Sage

This garden is down the street from me, and simply incredible.
There is no front lawn, just some thyme at the road, and then the echinacea and yellow flowers. and Russian sage. (And peppers and tomatoes and the house)
But it is so hard to take a photo of Russian sage by itself...

Roses and Contrails

A large rose bush (7 or 8 feet tall)
and a contrail in the blue sky.

Morning Glories

I love the way a morning glory opens

 to the new day.
I don't know why this poor blossom was so beat up,
but maybe the beighbouring bloom was crying for it.

Skywatch Friday

Wednesday was a day of alternating thundershowers and sun, but  the clouds were magnificent before sunset.
