Ice Sculptures

These photos are some of the ice sculptures at Winterlude. The people were still working on them, before the judging, when I was there. And yes, he is using a chain saw for the rough work.

Each block of ice weighs in the neighbourhood of 300 pounds, so they brought something on the order of 18 tons of ice into the park.

My favourite was the underwater scene. Beneath the ray and coral, there were other fish, and sea grasses.

Poseidon is playing with a ship.

Steve Irwin is feeding one of his beloved crocs.

And Mona Lisa is sitting for her portrait.

I love ice sculptures. Actually, any type of sculptures because the work to me is amazing but it's the ice that make them look like crystal sculptures and that is very cool.

All that work and then they melt!

Beautiful shots of Winterlude! I spent 25 years in Ottawa, and my kids and granddaughter live there. I have fond memories of canal skating.
Glad to see the photos, as I miss it.
I've been creating my own! Check out my header! I have a ways to go, but it keeps me off the streets.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

That is so interesting. I so admire anyone who is artistic and create something on which my eyes can feast!

How nice! This kind of art is art and it is pity that those figures last so short time. I have also photos from ice sculptures, but Yours are looking better.

Regards.
