Milkweed Seeds

The milkweed pods are opening
and scattering their seeds
to the four corners of the earth...
This one is caught on some cow parsnip.

Bur Cucumber

The bur cucumber pods that were green last month are browning, and opening to drop their seeds now.

Cow Parsnip

This is what most of the cow parsnip looks like in October, but I found one brave plant that was blooming!

Geese and Soybeans

The Canada geese are preparing for the long flight south.
Here they are gleaning the field after the soybeans have been harvested, putting on enough fat to keep them flying all those miles.

Watery Wednesday

With the geese feeding and preening in the fields and the river, there are lots of loose feathers about, to gather the morning dew.

Or even just sitting in the water...

Contrails at Dawn

One nice thing about the days getting shorter - you get to see the sunrise!

Aunt Elizabeth's Grapes

Aunt Elizabeth has had grape vines growing on the fences for many years. And you have to admit, they do not come any fresher than straight off the vine!

Dandelions

There are lots of dandelion clocks about, spreading their seeds to the four quarters,

but this morning, I found some that were so springlike in their sunny flowers!
They are so hard to resist, at this stage!

Annie Helped Take This Photo

I forget just what I was aiming at, when I pressed the shutter at the same time that Annie had to give kisses, since I was so close to the ground. But I kind of like the result.

Queen Anne's Lace

The last of the Queen Anne's lace blossoms for another year...

Macro Flowers Saturday

The chicory is done blooming for another year.

Grass and Water

Grass along the edge of Lake Ontario,
 or in the park
or even beside Lake Scugog -
 it's all good.

Lavender

Mother is borderline allergic to lavender, but she has a healthy bush in the garden anyway.

Rocks in the Water, or Beside the Water

Back to Wicklow beach
 to look at the rocks.
Husband was amused that I was stopping
every few feet to photograph the rocks and the water swirling around them.
But it was a sunny day, and I was having fun.
