Lake on the Mountain

The first thing to see in Prince Edward County is Lake on the Mountain.

On the top of the hill overlooking the Glenora Ferry,

it is a lovely little lake,

 which continues to baffle the world and scientists alike.

Glenora Ferry

DD and I went on a road trip on Monday, with Prince Edward County as the destination. We entered the County via the Glenora Ferry crossing part of the Bay of Quinte, part of Lake Ontario.

While we were waiting for the ferry, I captured some of the scenery

 and the far shore.

 The ferry arrived, 

 full of cars,

 which disembarked, and we embarked. 

 Yes, that is a tractor hauling something in the right half of the photo.

It was a pleasant, if short, trip.

 

Watery Wednesday

More photos from Lake Ontario.

 Where you have waves in winter, you have icicles.

 A wonderful combination.

 What fascinated me,

 was the sand trapped in the ice.

Lake Ontario

Living in Ottawa, I seldom get to a body of water

 large enough to have waves.

 When I do, I enjoy it to the fullest.

 It was much too cold for wading,

 but we could admire the bits of ice floating

 on the surface.

 Then walk back to the car, and look for hot chocolate.

 

Annie

Annie had a wonderful time at the beach last week. Husband did not want her playing with any of the dead fish we found, though.

Grass and Water

Grass along the edge of Lake Ontario,

 or in the park

 or even beside Lake Scugog - 

 it's all good.

Rocks in the Water, or Beside the Water

Back to Wicklow beach

 to look at the rocks.

 Husband was amused that I was stopping

 every few feet to photograph the rocks and the water swirling around them.

But it was a sunny day, and I was having fun.

Wading in Lake Ontario

We found a little beach in Wicklow, Ontario, which is open to the public,

 and husband stayed about 6 feet away from the water

 while I waded through the waves.

 

Ice at the Water's Edge

These photos show the ice formed right at the edge of the Lake.

I am interested in the space between the ice and the water, and the bubbles of ice. New ice formation for me.

Fish

While we were at the little beach on Lake Ontario, husband did not want to let Jake and Annie off their leashes. I was glad of that when he spotted this dead fish. I would have hated being enclosed in the car with fishy smelling dogs for another four or five hours.
