Still Lifes

I am posting a selection of my still lifes.
I have no idea what the orange thing used to be, but this is what it looks like after a year and more at the bottom of my box of feathers and peony seed pods and such.
I would love your constructive criticism, as I am trying to take more artistic photos.
A friend gave me a couple of pieces of chipped crystal, so I smashed one of them.
The best present anyone has given me this week!!!
I want to try more captures, with a coloured background...
And a slightly tarnished silver heart nestled in some feathers.

Be Still Week One

I have started an on-line course,
called Be Still.
It is about centring yourself before picking up the camera
and capturing still life photos.
Being still and focusing is harder than it looks.
So are still lifes.
But these images are my favourite results of the week.

Feathers

The geese have been staying west of the construction site,
but a few of their feathers have blown to the area where I walk.

First Frost

We had first frost last week.
I only took 170 photos, so I am still editing them,
but I had to share some of my favourites, so far.
I am linking this post with Nature Footstep Blo-Ma,
so please drop in to see more blossoms, and other macros!

Feathers

More images from last summer - feathers left in the grass...
I love the delicate details of feathers,
especially with dew drops!

Feather in the Wind

This feather was caught on the stem of a plant, but managed to dance in the wind anyway...

Feathers

I love this time of year, when the birds are moulting, and scattering feathers. This one is a swan feather, and the others are more likely to be goose or duck.
Some of the feathers end up covered in dew drops, making the effects even better.

Frosted Feathers

The best thing about November
has got to be the frost
 that forms on everything overnight.

Feathers in the Ice

And then, there are the feathers
which are only partially caught in the ice.
The exposed parts still gather frost crystals
 but also catch
 the morning sun.

NF Inspiring Photography

I tried capturing objects frozen in the ice. I think this is something I will have to keep working on...

NF Waters

There are geese in the pond again,
 and that means feathers,
 often with dew drops.
