Coltsfoot

Yesterday, I found three coltsfoot buds poking through the dead grass.
I brought one home, so I could see it open fully.
It opened out as it got warm, and closed half way about dark, even though it was under the plant lights.
It has opened again this morning!!! Unlike a dandelion.

Treasures

I have slowly been unpacking the suitcase in which I brought home all my treasures.
This is a sunflower quilt Mom made, with Annie perched in the corner.
I am doing this slowly, so I can try and find someplace for this stuff to live...
This embroidery came out of the cedar chest, and no one can remember doing it, so it must have been my Grandma, roughly 40 years ago.
A couple of small paintings that were in the hall,
and some odds and ends.

Water

The still water of a small pond reflects the trees, while the busy streams rush to join the river.

Snow Storm

The storm on Friday was not very bad here. We had a couple of inches of a mixture of snow and ice pellets, not the freezing rain that brought down branches and hydro lines in the southern part of the province.
The poor crocuses are not very happy, though.
They are still holding their heads up,
even if they are covered with water drops.
The water makes their petals look almost transparent.

Maple Flowers

The second trees to bloom are the maples, after the willows.

Grape Hyacinth

I found a few grape hyacinth in the garden today,
and brought them indoors before the big snowstorm starts,
sometime in the middle of the night.

Tree

This tree is about two thirds of the way between my parents' house and the hospital where my father has been since January.
I love the lines of it, and take some photos every time I am there.

Abstract Photos

I didn't get a lot of photos taken while I was in Woodstock, but I did spend some time with this old blowtorch, before they took it away for sale.

First Crocuses

These were the only blossoms I saw in Woodstock,
so I was very happy to get home and find half a dozen crocuses
blooming in my garden.

Spiderwebs

The sun was shining through the kitchen window, catching on the spiderwebs in the corners.

Back Home

I went to visit my parents. They just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Next week will be Mom's 91st birthday.
Here is their wedding photo, taken by my aunt.
My Dad has been in hospital with a broken hip (no, they cannot replace or pin this fracture) and my Mom is spending 4 to 5 hours a day with him.
And she has decided the house has to be cleared of 55 years accumulation, this week. Next week will not do.
I spent a lot of my time there cooking and freezing food for her, as she refuses to eat at the hospital, so did not spend much time with my camera.
Not that the weather cooperated. Snow flurries that never stayed on the ground, winds and cold temperatures. I saw half a dozen crocuses that were out of the buds, but not open yet.
No pussywillows, even.
I am emotionally drained, but recovering...
Thank you for your thoughts!!

Icicles

While I was admiring the icicles on the eaves,
I noticed that the ice had dripped onto one of the stems of sweet Cecily

and formed an interesting creation.
I am supposed to be home now, but give me a chance to get the photos edited, please...

Sewer Pipes

The stack of sewer pipes is still waiting for installation.
I am away for a few days, but have left photos for you.

Goldenrod and Snow

On an afternoon walk, I found a small goldenrod plant poking its head out of the snow.
I am away for a few days, but I have left photos for you.
