Autumn Leaves

It is getting to be that time of year - 

the leaves are changing colour, and falling.

Soon enough, the trees will be bare.

Hollyhock and Bumblebee

I was photographing some hollyhocks against the cloudless sky,

when a bumblebee appeared.

Pussywillows

You know spring is coming

when you can see pussywillows

against the blue sky.

Serviceberry

The serviceberry, or shadbush,

is a small native tree,

about 40 feet tall.

The starry blossoms don't last long.

Last night's rain washed most of the petals to the ground

or the nose, as Annie demonstrates.

Magnolia Blossoms

We walk past a magnolia tree on our walks

and it is in bloom now.

One of the oldest flowering plants,

the petals are much thicker than most flowers.

I think this is an ash tree.

It is hard to remember from last year.

Tree

This tree is about two thirds of the way between my parents' house and the hospital where my father has been since January.

I love the lines of it, and take some photos every time I am there.

Skein of Geese

I was watching the geese fly overhead, when I noticed one skein included a snow goose amongst the Canada geese.

Late getting out for our evening walk,

 I got some wonderful captures of the redwings

 against the painted skies.

Here, I focused on the birds on the wires just before they launched for the marsh.

Ducks in Flight

This morning, a small flock of ducks was circling the marsh.
