Lady's Mantle and Books

The lady's mantle is blooming now,

and I wondered what it would look like with some old books.

 

Lady's Mantle

 I have some lady's mantle flowers from spring on my shelf,

and the sun streamed through the window,

 turning them pure gold!

Bouquet of Peonies

Picking the peonies for my latest bouquet, I wondered how they would look with some grasses and lady's mantle flowers.

I love the way lady's mantle holds the raindrops,

 especially in the morning sun!

Lady's mantle is one of the best plants

 for catching droplets of water on its leaves.

 I haven't looked up its herbal properties.

Sprouts

I spent a few minutes in the garden,

 seeing what had poked its head above ground.

 There are lots of tiny leaves,

 reaching for the sun.

I love lady's mantle

 for the way it holds dewdrops and raindrops.

In the spring,

there are froths of tiny delicate flowers

 above the leaves.

 The whole plant is less than feet tall.

Lady's Mantle

The leaves on the lady's mantle are more than an inch across now,

 so they are capturing the raindrops.

 I cannot imagine a garden without them!

 

Frost on the Leaves

The lady's mantle always captures raindrops,

but the lemon balm 

 and the violets display the frost as well.

and everything was dripping.

Lilacs, lady's mantle, tulips and daffodils.

The lady's mantle leaves are a couple of inches across now,

well able to capture the raindrops and hold them.

Other plants do this, too,

but none so well.
