Lilac Buds

It is looking more like spring every day!!! My white lilac is getting lovely fat buds!

My lilacs are starting to bloom.

Raindrops

Ladysmantle always catches the raindrops,

but so do apple blossoms

and lilacs.

I especially love the lilacs,

which are just starting to bloom.

Blossoms

Fortunately, the foot of snow we received this past week does not affect the flowers in the house.

The forsythia is about done - I will have to gather more branches...

I doubt the lilac will actually blossom, but I love watching the buds develop.

And the Valentine's Day cactus is trying to be an Easter cactus, too!

Snowstorm

The snow/sleet started coming down before we went for our walk this morning,

and by this afternoon, has changed to just snow.

But it is still coming down pretty hard.

This is what the lilacs outside look like now.

But last week, I brought some forsythia and lilac branches inside,

and see what the lilacs are doing!!!



Watery Wednesday

I woke to snow blanketing the ground yesterday.

 And the lilacs and other trees.

 The temperature was hovering around freezing all day,

 but the snow turned to slush and then to rain.

Other than the interesting photo ops,

 a day to stay indoors and read.

January Lilacs

We had our first real storm of the winter on Friday - 

 about 6 inches of snow.

 Then the temperatures dropped to something near 30 below freezing.

 It might be pretty out there, but our walks are short, and Jake says they are still too long. He wants indoor plumbing.
