 is turning a breathtaking red

 this fall.

These silhouettes are attached

 to light posts along 

 one of the major streets

 in the area.

 

Morning Glories in the Rain

The morning glory blossoms appear too fragile

 to bear the weight of the raindrops.

 

Geranium Flowers

Everyone sees the showy petals of the geranium,

 but how many people look at the heart of the blossom?

Sunset with Crows

We do have other birds than geese. Morning and evening, there are large flocks of both crows and gulls overhead.

 

Skywatch Friday

While I was watching the geese last weekend, I found this dead tree covered in Virginia creeper and wild grape vines.

Bird Nest

While I was photographing fence posts, I noticed an abandoned bird's nest in the vines.

I am fascinated with fence posts,

 especially the wooden ones

which are showing their age.

So much variety...

Last of the Hibiscus

We haven't had a killing frost yet,

 but the hibiscus are finished for the year.

 

Coming In For A Landing

I love Canada geese, and I take far more photos of them than is reasonable.

 Here, the geese are coming in for a landing,

 splashing down amongst their kin.

Splashing down is the right word, too.

Watery Wednesday

I haven't posted any dewy spiderwebs in a while,

 so I will offer you a selection.

I admire the artistry of spiders

and admit it is easier to see and capture when covered with dewdrops.

Serviceberry Trees in Autumn

Ottawa is using more native species of trees in the parks,

 because they are better suited to the climate than a lot of imports.

 This is a serviceberry, although I have never seen any berries on them.

 

Cattails

It's time for the cattails to start fluffing out.

 And for people to grab a couple of stalks, and whap each other, to make the fluff come off.
