Grass and Sunlight

Last summer, when the grass was in bloom,
the morning sun limned everything with gold.
I am sharing this post with Nature Footstep Catch the Light.

Misty Mornings

We have been having some foggy mornings,
so I have been taking a lot of photos of them.
I love the way the trees loom
 out of the mist.

Skywatch Friday

I was watching the exhaust from the school chimney, blowing in the wind, and admiring the shapes as they were lit by the morning sun.

Ice in the Morning

I used to think that ice was flat,
  but it's not, really.

Frost on the Asters

The frost crystals formed on the spent asters,
and sparkled in the dawn light.

Morning

I can't decide which sunrise I like better
the one in the sky, or the reflection...

Another Bridge

I discovered this little bridge in the summer
and we paid another visit to it this morning.
The frost pattern is different from yesterday's bridge.
We circled back around, to catch the shadows.
Annie (furry) and Jake (whippet) both approved of the long walk, and the new park.

Look Up, Look 'Way Up

I was right under the hydro pylons
 looking straight up
into the morning sky, and thinking of childhood TV.
Do you remember The Friendly Giant?

Skywatch Friday

While I was watching the geese last weekend, I found this dead tree covered in Virginia creeper and wild grape vines.

Watery Wednesday

This morning, a lone duck was dabbling in the stream.

Bindweed

I asked Annie who the black doghair belonged to, as she was the only black dog in the field, but all she did was wag her tail.
You can get away with an awful lot if you look cute and wag your tail...
Bindweed is a wildflower related to morning glory, but is another one that you don't want in a crop.

Birch Flowers

I was experimenting with the birch flowers the other morning, and I think this is the best shot.

Geese

The geese are still around. Sometimes I capture a skein flying high overhead,
but usually, I see them on the river. I like this fellow standing on the beaver lodge.

Geese in the Marsh

I loved the shadows this morning, and the golden glow of all the dried cattails.

And, of course, the geese. Parts of the pond were open,

and other parts were frozen over. I wondered why the geese were following the leader along the dog-leg through the open water, till I watched another trying to break the ice. It was not that thick, but I weigh a lot more than a goose. He was really struggling to clear a path for his friends.
