Last of the Forsythia

Last week, the branches were covered with blossoms.

The bushes make a beautiful hedge in the spring. And, for Bronwynn, who queried the size of the bush - I measured the fence (left side of the photo) at 59 inches. That puts the top branches into the 10 foot ballpark. Also puts the width in the same range, if I can estimate anything.

The flowers are falling off the bush now, having done their duty,

and the leaves are sprouting.

I love to see the forsythia flower. It means spring is really here. And, as much as I hate to see the flowers fall, it does mean that summer is on her way. My cousin always called it for-cynthia and I have taken to doing the same.

I hadn't really noticed before how wild forsythia can grow!
