Shadows

Shadows can appear on many things,
and be cast by many things, as well.
Most of these are wild grape vines
 climbing a hydro pylon.

Frost on the Grass

I love the delicate frost crystals
 settled on the grass.

Milkweed

I have been enjoying the milkweed
and want to share a selection of what I have captured.
 For the most part,
 the seedpods are empty now,
and the seeds have blown away.
Some have been caught in other plants,
and others are lying in the fields, gathering frost.

Feathers and Frost

As the geese have gleaned the soybean fields,
they have left behind a lot of feathers.
The frost formed on them overnight,
and faded away as the sun rose higher in the sky.

Dead Tree

This tree has been dead for years,
and the bark is long gone.
It lost a large branch into the cornfield over the summer,
and another will be following soon.

Walking Sentinels in the Dawn

Do the walking sentinels appear any different
 with the background of sunrise?
 Or are the only differences
 in the background colours?

Maple Leaves

Some of the maples have had red leaves this fall,
while others have had yellow ones.
 No matter which,
they are a welcome part of the season,
 even after they have fallen.
I captured some leaves in the playground,
 half buried in the sand
 the children have scattered.
 Others are just lying,
 or catching raindrops.

Geese

I love capturing the geese when the sun is just rising -
the water is the most beautiful colour!
Actually, this a mixed flock of geese and ducks.

Nasturtiums

The nasturtiums were still blooming yesterday,
in a garden a couple of blocks from here.
I love looking down their throats!
