Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

 

Crab Spider

One of the calendula blossoms in my mother's garden harboured a spider. I think it is a crab spider, but correct me if I am wrong.

 

Autumn Leaves

The leaves are beginning to change colours,

 and to fall.

 But the days are sunny, and warm, in the afternoons.

 

Bur Cucumber

The seed pods of the bur cucumbers are drying, 

 and shedding their seeds.

 

Fences

Yesterday, I was photographing fences,

 among other things.

 I shall have to join that Flicker group, Friday Fences...

 

Rug Hooking Artist Trading Cards

My oldest sister has been doing rug hooking for years, and the group she is in has started doing artist trading cards. The Inukshuk is my sister's work, but I love the stand she has made from an old fork.

 And I had to photograph the butterfly ATC she received, for Deb.

 I have included the back, so you know who made the ladybug.

Family Photo

My brother-in-law took some photos of my mother, my three sisters and myself. I am the one in yellow.

Mandevilla

My sister gave my mother a mandevilla plant.

 It spent the summer outside, and this blossom came out and lasted all the days I was there.

 The plant and the arbour it is climbing will have to be brought indoors this week, before the frost.

 

Watery Wednesday

Wednesday morning in Woodstock was foggy, so I had a lovely time.

 The four swans in Southside Park all swam toward me,

 out of the mist.

 You can see some of the ducks they share the pond with, but the geese make themselves scarce when the swans are around.

Toadflax

A small patch of toadflax in the afternoon sun.

 

Caterpillar

This fellow was crossing the path as I was walking along it.

Wild Asters

Wild asters covered with dew

 and some milkweed fluff

 against the morning sun.

Canna

I love the striped canna leaves

maybe even more than the flowers.

Purple Basil

My mother always grows purple basil,

 and dries it before first frost

 for use in the winter.
