Blue Vervain

While the blue vervain plants are a couple of feet tall, the flowers themselves are tiny, about an eighth of an inch across.
In past years, I have only found one or two plants,
but this year, there have to be about 50!
Most of them in a cow pasture, but the cows don't eat them...

Blue Vervain

Blue vervain flowers amy only be an eighth of an inch across, but with nothing else to focus on, the camera does a pretty good job.

Blue Vervain

I had to bring a stalk of blue vervain seeds home to photograph,

as there is simply not enough light in the mornings to get a decent capture outside.

Purple loosestrife is Lythrum salicaria, while blue vervain

is Verbena hastata, so they are in very different families, Bronwynn.
