I think it is a sundog. Very pretty!

Beautiful Judy. B
Yes, I love the sky next to this beautiful tree.
I have heard these referred to as "sundogs" as well - but we always called them "sunbows". They are refractions (as opposed to 'reflections' like regular rainbows) of sunlight on tiny ice crystals and are fairly rare! How fortunate it stuck around long enough for you to photograph it - it's gorgeous!
Niice ;)Monika ;)
Awesome capture! Thanks for the info about the Cows Parsnip!!!! :)
Beautiful sundog Judy!!!I have a spot I like to go in the evenings that often gives me a chance to see one.
Delightful sundog captures!
we have rain rain rain...unusual for us in the desert!
A vertical rainbow - how lovely!
Wonderful shots, Judy, but like some people already said: it's not a rainbow but a sundog. You can see this sometimes left or right of the sun, before the weather gets worse and rainy.
Rainbow or sundog, it's beautiful! I've ever seen a sundog, but not colorful like this.
Hi, This is attractive picture. also natural. go on with and give us more and more. Beautiful traveling places
Lovely captures. We call them sundogs as well, often there are two, on opposite sides of the sun.
So beautiful and perfectly captured!Sunrise Views, come and see.HAVE a great weekend!
These are sundogs and are usually harbengers of bad weather within a day or two. They are caused by the refraction of light through high altitude ice crystals.
Well caught! Love that pretty rainbow sky.
it's a sundog...and it's very pretty!!
Lucky you capturing a sundog!
The sun dogs were Apollo's hounds, who followed his sunny chariot.
