I think this is a maple tree, but it is blooming before coming out in leaf.

Those look like my silver maple tree flowers, but I am not an expert. You commented on my blog about my lilacs and we are in the same zone. I am going to try to cover them with an old sheet..I would have to have them killed off....Michelle
