Trees in the Air

In April, shortly before the flower season started, I took a series of photos of trees which had started growing on top of a stump from a former tree, and then proceededto strengthen their roots so they are above ground level.

Someone posted a similar photo, but her tree had grown to fill in the space between the trunk and the ground.

Obviously, these have not. I think they look very strange.

These trees are definitely unusual. I haven't noticed anything like them.
Thanks for the fascinating photos.

Very strange and kind of spooky. You don't usually see that kind of thing unless the water has washed out the soil.

Judy - I was at your Sky Watch and ended up here! You have beautiful photos of your world I'm fascinated by trees like this - how do they grow and survive against all odds? They seem like a good example somehow. I have an aspen tree in the woods near my house that I've photographed a number of times - its roots are spanning a gully.
