Swan Story

Last July, there were four swans at Southside Park in Woodstock.
A pair, with a cygnet, and a lonesome one.
One morning, Lonesome got too close,

and Daddy got mad.

He chased Lonesome half way across the pond,
while Mom sailed serenely on, carrying her cygnet.
Daddy came back, so proud of himself.
But it didn't last long...
I should have stayed to watch, because, when I was out of camera range, they took the fight onto the shore.

Southside Park

I seldom walk this shore of the pond in Woodstock.
I was so impressed with the spring trees and their reflections, though.
I am linking this with NF Waters.

Picnic Tables in Winter

When I was visiting my parents in December, I noticed the picnic tables in the park,
stored for the winter.

Ducks in the Park

When I was in Woodstock last month, the ducks and geese were sitting beside the pond, hoping I had some bread for them.

Bridge Supports

Blogger is still not cooperating about uploading photos from my computer, so I am finally finding a way around it.
These are supports of a bridge in Southside Park, in Woodstock. I have no idea how old they are, but I love them.
Today I am linking to NF Abstract.

Water over the Dam

There are two dams in the park near my parents.
This time of year, water flows over both of them.

Bicycle Stand

While I was walking in the park in Woodstock,
I noticed the bike stands near the playground.
Don't you love the whimsy?

Watery Wednesday

Wednesday morning in Woodstock was foggy, so I had a lovely time.
The four swans in Southside Park all swam toward me,
 out of the mist.
You can see some of the ducks they share the pond with, but the geese make themselves scarce when the swans are around.

Watery Wednesday

These are all reflections of a concrete lamppost, a little downstream from a small, overflowing dam.
The turbulence in the water did all the work.

Bridge Over Cedar Creek

This bridge in the park
has been there longer than I can remember.

Memorial Arch

This arch has been standing at the entrance to Southside Park in Woodstock much longer than I can remember.
I have no idea of its history, other than this inscription.
And it is more than a mile from the centre of town.
