Geese

I saw three geese with the mallards in the stream,

but they did not wait to be photographed,

and took off.

Ducks in the Park

When I was in Woodstock last month, the ducks and geese were sitting beside the pond, hoping I had some bread for them.

Mostly Ducks

I don't know why the ducks were swimming close to me - they usually swim the other direction.

I love the coloured pencil version of the photo, where you can see so many colours not visible in the photo.

I saw this pair of mallards

 enjoying the newly open spaces

 on the river.

 as I crossed the bridge.

This pair of mallards were standing in one of the ornamental ponds, arranging their feathers.

They were not too concerned about me, if I stayed at least four feet away from them.

At the house where the gray cats live,

the ducks were finding

tasty things

in a puddle.

And where there are ducks, there are duck footprints.

Not to mention duck body prints, where they had been settled in the snow!

I seldom make my way down to the stream in the winter, but it was a lovely day, and the alternative was to go home...

Most of the ducks did not like us to get too close, but they would only fly 30 feet and land again.

Annie did try and make them fly further, but they were not cooperating,

so she barked at them, and came back to where I was working.

A couple of large families of mallards,

all taking their morning ablutions.

I especially like this little fellow demonstrating the correct face washing technique!

It is so important for them to keep their feathers in good condition.

Dad slept late and left Mom to lead the expedition.

I am back from vacation, but I am nowhere near done editing the photos.

There is only one swan this year, so there will be no cygnets.

So the quality of the image is not the greaest! These are the first babies of the spring that I have seen, and I did not want to get too close.
