Black Eyed Susans

I love the sun shining through the petals

of the black eyed Susans!

It also highlights the tiny hairs on the stems!

Sunflowers

I need to apologize that I have not been posting, but I was busy photographing...

Let's start with sunflowers on a rainy day.

Raindrops are always good.

And sometimes the sunflowers talk to their smaller cousins!

Skywatch Friday

The geese are flying now, moving to the fields which have been harvested, so they can glean the fallen grains. They will need the energy reserves when they start to migrate in another couple of months.

Daylilies

I have been staring down the throats

of the daylilies.

So much the same,

yet each one is unique!

Nasturtiums

The nasturtiums in this garden are all sorts of colours!

They are bright and happy flowers!

When I grew them a few years ago, I put the flowers into my salads

and used them to make an herbal jelly that a lovely orangey-red!

Watery Wednesday

A single drop of dew on the petal of a black eyed susan!

Lambs Ears

I looked deeply into the clump of lambs ears, to see the new leaves developing.

Coneflowers

This week, I have been focusing on the centres

of the coneflowers.

There are tiny florets, and pollen hidden there.

And honeybees! Or is this a bumblebee?

Today's Flowers

These are the female flowers of the corn plant. Tomorrow, I will show you what the seeds look like!

Corn

The corn is in full swing! I have never noticed the way the pollen hangs from the male flowers at the tops of the plants!

Jake and Annie

Annie was having a good time checking out the wheat field. There was a lot of damage from the storm a couple of weeks ago.

Jake wasn't sure, but gave it a try. He did not stay long - must have been too prickly on his thin skin.

The Fields Have Ears

This deer chose a comfortable place to bed down for the day. All she could eat, without even getting out of bed!
