Geese

The geese are flying every direction,
but they still look for a safe place to spend the nights.
You'd think there were enough geese in this stretch of river,
but I guess there is always room for a few more.

Macro Flowers Saturday

The grocery store has a lovely display of hibiscus plants
 for sale, or to photograph.

Frost on the Fence Posts

I've lately started studying the old fence posts I encounter on my walks.
Even when they have fallen, there is still something...

Skywatch Friday

For this week's look at the skies in Ottawa,
I give you a weeping willow beside the Ottawa River, and a few geese drifting by.

Bird Nest

Now that the leaves are gone,
I can find bird nests with frost on them.

Ice on the Water

Yesterday morning, there was a skin of ice on the water in the small pond near the river.
The ice was not nearly thick enough to hold the weight of a dog, though, so Jake glared at me when he got his feet wet.

Frost on the Leaves

The lady's mantle always captures raindrops,
but the lemon balm
and the violets display the frost as well.

Calendula

I love cheery colour of calendulas, even when they have a light snow on them/

Watery Wednesday

I was at the Ottawa River yesterday,
and taking photos of lots of things.
Here we have waves and a leaf in the sand.

Gulls

I am assuming these are herring gulls
but they are all over the place.
I was taking a lot of macro photos,
so they came close to me
and I was able to get some interesting photos.

Milkweed and Frost

Frost covered the milkweed pods

and sparkled in the morning light.

Today's Flowers

The goldenrod flowers
are covered with the morning frost.

Frosty Morning

The frost mutes all the colours
 in the dawn light.

Winter Ferns

The ferns spent the summer
 preparing for next year,
and the frost decorated the seeds.
