 I took the dogs for a long walk after church,

 to enjoy the quiet, and the falling...

Virgin's bower is a wild clematis vine,

 common in some parts of its range, but I have to look for it every year.

 These are the seed pods.

 found in the eastern half of Canada,

 and the USA from Georgia to Kansas.

This clematis relative has gone to seed now. The seeds are actually more noticeable than the flowers.
