Bowlful of Acorns

I have been doing some housecleaning and sorting photos.

I took these a month ago, and did not get them posted.

I gathered a bowl full of acorns

while the oak trees were shedding them.

Oh I thought I was the only person in the world who had bowls full of acorns. What is it about those little nuts that I like so much? I love their sort of not quite round shape and their little caps. Some are brown and some are green. Some are oblong and some quite round. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who loves them so.

I have a bowl full of acorns, buckeyes, tiny pinecones, etc. I love things like that.

Very nice. Not sure about the red & black acorns, but those from white oaks (very small compared with their cousins) are edible--mash and soak a few times to remove the bitter tannins.

We still have plenty of acorns in our yard in case you would like a few more bowl-fulls.

Love these macros!
My squirrels leave the ground under my trees nice and clean. I maybe could fill a thimble. :)

Nice until your trailer is parked under a spreading oak tree in the fall...
