Geese
Geese usually have their squabbles too far away for me to capture them, so I like this image.
And it is gosling time -
I found two families along the banks of the river.
I am linking this post with
NF Winged
today.

Goslings
The three goose families have merged into one big flock, on the river. Now it is impossible to count the young ones.
Don't you love this guy's punk hair?

Goslings
After my birthday brunch, we visited another pond,
and the goslings were very different ages -
everything from too little to be allowed near us
to almost fledged.
The older ones were close enough that I could hear them ripping the grass as they grazed.

Goslings
There are four families of geese at the pond this year.
I shall have to take the camera over without my associates, and see if I can better shots.

Watery Wednesday
The goslings are starting to get their adult plumage.
It's odd that they are not all developing at the same rate.
But I suppose teenagers are much the same, even in other species...

Watery Wednesday
The goslings are really starting to flegde now.
They look a lot like their parents,
only smaller.

Geese
The goose family is getting bolder, learning that people bring bread for them.
I have heard that the city is using a new birth control method for them.
If you find the nest after all the eggs have been laid, and poke holes in most of them, you end up with a much smaller family.
People can still watch the goslings, but the city has to clean the sidewalks less often.

Different Goslings
With so many people walking in the area,
these goose parents are much more relaxed than the pair where I usually walk.
I could get within 15 feet of the goslings, and no one fussed at all.

Goslings
The parent geese are certainly more comfortable about their responsibilities.
They approached me, although they still stayed well out of reach.
