King was the Prime Minister of Canada in the '30s and 40's. He spent a lot of time working on his estate in the Gatineau Hills. He laid out some formal gardens,
but he had some parts of buildings brought in, to create the "ruins'. This doorway originally graced a bank building.
Most of the ruins were placed to simulate an abbey that had been abandoned.
It was a rainy day when we were there,
but we had a good outing.
