Memorial Arch

This arch has been standing at the entrance to Southside Park in Woodstock much longer than I can remember.
I have no idea of its history, other than this inscription.
And it is more than a mile from the centre of town.

The stonework is beautiful. I am wondering if it is not some kind of WWI tribute? I think that was the 1914-1919 time frame?

How interesting that it's so far from town. Something else must have been there at one time.

Yeah...it is most definitely world war one. I am surprised to not see a list of fallen though.

Nice pics of an old WWI memorial. As a historian w/ particular interest in material culture (including monuments), I had to know more. And found it, at http://www.1047.ca/local-news/archives/2010-08/ -- scroll down to "Memorial Archway Rededicated" article.
