Hollyhock and Bumblebee

I was photographing some hollyhocks against the cloudless sky,

when a bumblebee appeared.

And of course, 

I had to wait for her to come out again...

A hollyhock from last summer.

I have finished my exams, and I have a final average of 85%. I have another week of classes, about resumes and stuff, and then two weeks of practical, and I will be done...

There don't seem to be a lot of hollyhocks around this year.

 I love the sun streaming through their petals.

The hollyhocks were blooming with the sun behind them. I wonder if all the pollen gets eaten or transferred, or whatever.

This is a variety called Jet Black.

I spotted these hollyhocks on the way home from work,

and the sun was coming through them in such a delightful way that I had to turn around and take some photos.

I love the shadows cast by other petals!

The morning after the rain,

the hollyhocks were covered with water droplets.

The hollyhocks are not looking as nice as they were.

I don't know if it is late in the season for them,

or if they are catching something.

I still love them against the blue sky!

Hollyhocks by a Stone Wall

The stone house beside the stop sign to get back on the highway in Franktown

had these beautiful hollyhocks growing in the garden.

Since it was such a small town, I parked at the stop sign to take some photos.

And the sun came back out from behind the clouds to cast these fascinating shadows!

The hollyhocks are starting to bloom.

They come in so many colours!

I like the way the pollen falls onto the petals, and simply pools there.

More Hollyhocks

I only have about 50 photos of the hollyhocks. (More than 200 of peonies.)

So I decided to share more of them.

These are not from my garden, but a couple of blocks away.
