Fish Bones

 A month or so ago, a large fish was caught in the rocks between the pond and the marsh, and died. I avoided the area for weeks, till I could be sure there was nothing for the dogs to roll in.

 There is nothing left but the bones, now, and I have been photographing them. And thinking about a story I used to read my daughters - "A Harp Made of Fish Bones".

 

Fish Teeth

A couple of the fish we did not want the dogs rolling in, during our trip last month. I found the teeth fascinating.

 I think they are pike, or muskies.

Fish at Upper Canada Village

In the park just before the gate to the Village, there is one of those food dispensing machines, so people can feed the fish. Last time I was there, the fish were fed through the back window of the grist mill, not by the public.

In a real village of the time, the fish would likely have been used as food before they got to be this large. All the ones I saw were more than three feet long.

While we were at the little beach on Lake Ontario, husband did not want to let Jake and Annie off their leashes. I was glad of that when he spotted this dead fish. I would have hated being enclosed in the car with fishy smelling dogs for another four or five hours.
