Koi

Watery Wednesday

While Highway 7 was under construction, they blasted through any number of rocky knolls to even the gradients. There are thousands of little springs coming out of the rock, and freezing in the winter.

As wonderful as they look now, in their solid splendour, wait to see them in the spring, when they are gushing with meltwater.

Skywatch Friday

Jake and Annie

Christmas has been a mild bright day, so we went for a long walk. If you look closely at Jake's hind legs, you can see the light streaming through the skin between his muscles and tendons. Annie is showing how much snow can accumulate on a nose.

Mallards

The mallards were still in the stream on Saturday, despite the cold. Soon, they will fly south, to open water. This drake does have a head; it is simply under water at the moment.

Winter Photos

Goldfinches and Fibres linked to a display of photographs by Michael Kenna. They are all in black and white, but some of them are awe-inspiring. Others are disorienting. Incredible. And some of them do not speak to me at all. But there are about 100 of them, and I will be returning to the site to look at them again.

(Okay, so I have just learned how to make links, and have to practise, too.)

Fresh Snow

Today's Flowers

The Christmas cactus has been blooming all month.

Right on time!

At the Airport

This water wall is about two stories tall, and the water simply pours down, creating drops at the top edges of each row of blocks.

This Christamas tree is more than two stories tall, and this ornament is about three feet long.

Sir John A. MacDonald was one of the founding father's of Canada, and the airport is named for him.

Outside, there is an inukshuk.

And as you are entering or leaving the terminal, there is a sculpture of two planes or birds.

Silhouette

This is from a couple of years ago. Isn't it wonderful, exploring old files?

Unfolding - Sprinkles

Sprinkles is an African violet my daughter chose 15 years ago, and named.

She is blooming again, and I have to send off a record of her blossoming.
