Hibiscus

Time to get some colour back into this blog!!

Hibiscus has a short blooming period here,

so I enjoy it while we have it!

And raindrops make everything look better!

Especially now that we are in the cold weather

before the snows...

I wonder how people lived through winter before there were photographs to lift their spirits?

Phlox

Pink phlox, from a garden a couple of streets over

i love the bright colour, and the way the sun shines through the petals!

Tiny Pink Flowers

I don't know what these pretty flowers are, so if anyone can identify them, please let me know...

The plant is 10 to 12 inches tall, and the flowers are about half an inch. The leaves are sort of strap-like.

I doubt I would have noticed it if the flowers had not been blooming, in amongst the grasses and weeds.

 

Valentine's Day Cactus

I can't call it a Christmas cactus, blooming in February,

so I will just call it pink...

Pink Chicory Blossoms

I have found another mutation. 

 This chicory plant has pink blossoms!

 

Christmas Cactus

My Christmas cactus is blooming,

 a very welcome change from the gray skies.

I love the colour of these blossoms,

but also the shape 

 and texture.

 

Geranium Flowers

Everyone sees the showy petals of the geranium,

 but how many people look at the heart of the blossom?

Last of the Hibiscus

We haven't had a killing frost yet,

 but the hibiscus are finished for the year.

Flowering Crabapple

Early in May, the buds and leaves were just forming,

 but by the middle of the month, the trees were covered with blossoms.

 Then the petals began to fall,

and turn the lawns and gardens pink

 before the wind blew all the petals away.

 

Unknown Flower

If anyone knows what sort of a plant this is, please let me know. 

 I have labelled it "Fragrant" in my files, because the scent is heavenly.

 It is a spreading shrub a couple of feet tall, with nothing special about it, unless it is blooming.

 

Pulmonaria

I think this perennial is pulmonaria, although I am not sure.

 I like the way the flowers fade from purple to pink.
