Hibiscus

Time to get some colour back into this blog!!

Hibiscus has a short blooming period here,

so I enjoy it while we have it!

And raindrops make everything look better!

Especially now that we are in the cold weather

before the snows...

I wonder how people lived through winter before there were photographs to lift their spirits?

One of the lovely things about August is the dew that falls (forms) on the flowers.

The hibiscus flowers are blossoming.

 They have only been in this part of the world

 the last few years,

 and I am still amazed

 at the sheer size of them!

We haven't had a killing frost yet,

 but the hibiscus are finished for the year.

Some of the hibiscus plants are expressing their disapproval of the cooler temperatures and shorter days,

 but this one is still blooming happily.

There are several hibiscus plants

 in the neighbourhood,

 and I love to photograph them every couple of weeks.

 Not that there is a lot of change in them,

 but they are so lush and vibrant

 as summer draws to a close.

 There are still some flowers on the hibiscus plants,

but not all of them are perfect.

I found this hibiscus in a garden on our walk this morning.

The plant is much too small for it to be a perennial,

but I love the colour!

Watery Wednesday

There was rain, and that means raindrops on the flowers and leaves.

Borage, and lady's mantle

This is a hibiscus leaf, and it took me a while to capture the water droplets, but I think it was worth it.
