The Easter bunny was hiding in the crocuses...

Crocuses on Tuesday, when it snowed

Tuesday started out sunny, but then the rain started.
And then the rain turned into snow...
Ah, mid April in Ontario...

First Crocus

Yesterday morning, I saw the first crocus in my garden.
When I got home in the afternoon, it was open!
I am linking this post with NF Blo-Ma.

Crow Footprints

I captured these footprints a couple of weeks ago, the last time we had snowfall. Now the surface crust is too thick for birds to make an impression.

More Crocuses

This crocus is showing some frost damage, but the others are all fine.
While I was photographing them, I discovered a grape hyacinth right beside the foundation of the house. Having that south exposure to trap the heat sure speeds things up, in the garden.

Crocus

I have one lone crocus waiting to bloom, but it is going to stay huddled up for another couple of days, at least. The wind chill this morning was -15, but we went for a long walk anyway, since I could breathe, and do not work today.

Watery Wednesday

If April showers bring May flowers, what do March showers bring?

Lambs ears, tulips and crocuses were all revelling in the wet.

Today's Flowers

Before the cold snap,

my crocuses were blooming happily.

Now, some of them are left, and others have been eaten, again.

Someone Ate My Crocus

I had a beautiful purple crocus, the first one to open,

and when I went outside in the morning, it was in pieces. The stem had been bitten through, the petals were on the ground, and the stamens had been carried a couple of feet away.

Crocuses and Johnny Jump-Ups

The flowers outside are starting.

Only two crocuses are in bloom today,

but there are many Johnny Jump-Ups in the lawn at the church.

In the Garden

The grape hyacinths are getting bigger every day.
The crocuses are warming themselves in the morning sun.

The lady's mantle is waiting for the rains.

These beauties are from a neighbour's garden, so I have no idea what they are.

More Snow

The snow stopped in the night, so there is more definition in this cat footprint.
This is a smaller bird than a crow, maybe a robin, although there are half a dozen possibilities.

The lilacs yesterday afternoon. If you look closely, you can see some of the buds, still greenish.

And another crocus, with a much larger hat than yesterday.

Snow on the Crocuses

We had snow this morning.

By noon, it had changed to a rain/snow mix.

I am glad that crocuses are prepared for this sort of thing.

Maybe not happy about the snow, but willing to stand up to it.
