The branches of lilac that I brought into the house a month ago have come into bloom. They don't have much fragrance. The purple ones I brought in a couple of weeks ago are even less happy. It has been an interesting experiment.
Very cool Judy! I hadn't thought about forcing lilacs but I noticed mine are budding really nice although it has cooled way down the past two days and I'm hoping the deer don't spot it. :)
So sad that your white lilac did not have much fragrance being forced in the house. Outside, in their natural growth state, they are wonderfully fragrant. My favorites of the lilacs because of it. Mine are going to be wonderful this spring if we finally get some promised rains. Blessings
I'm surprised that your lilac had little or no fragrance. I know some plants have better fragrance at certain times of the day and if it is a particular temperature. Our lilacs flower around May time here so its quite unusual to see blooms at this time of year. Even though they don't have a fragrance they must look lovely in a vase.
It's really neat that you got lilacs to bloom by forcing them. I wonder why they have apparently lost their fragrance? But even so, they sure look good.
Forcing lilac...I've not tried that before either. I would imagine they'd go "off" before they really get into bloom... I wonder why hardly any scent? hhhmm... Fun to try though! I love lilacs! Happy Weekend, Judy :o) ((HUGS))

I have been waiting for this! They sure are beautiful!
I think it is interesting that you got some to bloom. Too bad they lack fragrance. I am so envious. It will be May before our bloom.

Wonderful, so fragile!

Your photos are lovely, as is the look of the lilac.
The photos are beautiful and the smell of my lilacs thrill me - in about two months.
I'm surprised you could force them this early. I like to experiment too. :)
