My miniature roses
 are blooming late this year,
and are being caught in the frost.

Still Life with Unicorn

I have been playing with still life again,
and with a couple of filters in my processing program.
I found a dead monarch butterfly, and kept the wings.
I can't figure out how to attach them to the unicorn, though...
Click to enlarge the photos, and let me know what you think.

Rosebud

All the other roses were done for the summer, leaving this lone bud...

Alchymist Rose

The colour of this shrub rose stopped me in my tracks.

Rose Leaves with Snow

The leaves may be dry and brown, but the dusting of feathery snow makes them so beautiful...

War Memorial

A couple of years ago, I took some photos of the War Memorial in downtown Ottawa. It was built after the Great War,
but the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has been added more recently.
The day I was there, someone had left a rose on the grave.
This is a day to remember the sacrifices of all the men and women, those who have laid down their lives for us, and those who have come back, to pick up their own lives again.

Roses at Pinhey's Point

There were three rose bushes still blooming,
all different,
but I wish you could smell the fragrances!!!

Roses and Contrails

A large rose bush (7 or 8 feet tall)
and a contrail in the blue sky.

More Romance

I am not sure what I think of the mug, rather than the cup and saucer, but so few people use the good china any more...

A Rose and a Cup of Tea

Another romantic photo shoot.
The cup and saucer belonged to my my grandmother. I am going to have to take it outside in the sunshine, to capture the shadows through the walls of the cup.

Roses and Pearls

I have been working extra hours, and trying to take some photos that evoke the feeling of romance and Valentine's Day. I like the combination of the rose and the pearls, even though it is not traditional.

Macro Flowers Saturday

The sun was up, but it had not yet melted the frost from the roses.

I am amazed at the way the roses have survived so many nights of frost.

Roses in the Sky

The roses are blooming bravely,

 although the nighttime temperatures
 are nearing freezing.

The roses are blooming. These are from the college.

A couple that don't have labels, then Quandra,

Stanwell Perpetual,

Monte Rosa,

Maigold,

Hansa,

and Belle Poitevine,

losing her petals.
