War Memorial

A couple of years ago, I took some photos of the War Memorial in downtown Ottawa. It was built after the Great War,

but the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has been added more recently.

The day I was there, someone had left a rose on the grave.

This is a day to remember the sacrifices of all the men and women, those who have laid down their lives for us, and those who have come back, to pick up their own lives again.

This plant is about three feet tall, and I have no idea what colour the flowers might be.

My first casual glance said sunflower, but not with these seedheads...

We went for a walk in the woods, and found these flowers.

I have no idea what they are, and the track was pretty wretched, so I do not need to ever go back there again.

I have no idea what these plants are, but there is half a bed full of them.

From a distance, they do not look too odd, but

when you get up close...
