Watery Wednesday

The other morning, there were a lot of herons in the river.

One great blue, at least four black crowned night herons, and a couple that I think are bitterns, although they were too far away to get anything decent.

And before anyone comments on the quality of the images, remember that I have a little point and shoot camera, and I was making it do things it was not designed for, to get these photos.

The second photo only has one night heron in it, while the others have two.

Black Crowned Night Heron



I have been seeing this fellow around the catchment basin a lot lately.

The only picture in the book that comes close to looking like him is one of the night herons. So what is he doing out at 7:30 in the morning?
