Giant Sunflower

My wildflower guide says there are some 20 species of sunflowers in North America, but it does not describe most of them.

Of the species that are described, this looks most like a giant sunflower, the giant part referring to the overall height of the plant, not the flower size.

The blossoms are about three inches across, but anything yellow is fair game, in the morning sun.

This is what I always think of when I visualize a sunflower. Thanks for the great pictures.

I love the last shot - the way it sparkles, the way the sun makes it glow from behind ... beautiful.
