Footprints in the Snow

Annie's hair makes her prints indistinct. Jake's are much clearer.

The crow was walking across the road.

But we never saw the cat or the rabbit.

Snow on the Crocuses

We had snow this morning.

By noon, it had changed to a rain/snow mix.

I am glad that crocuses are prepared for this sort of thing.

Maybe not happy about the snow, but willing to stand up to it.

Clouds

The clouds yesterday morning were fascinating.

All grey and rolling.

Today's Flowers

There were tulips at the flower show. And a gnome.

Tulips come in so many colours,

and shapes.

The tulips in the gardens are about four inches high now.

Crocuses

Martha Washington Geraniums

They always have a lot of these Martha Washington geraniums at the flower show.

Likely because the colours are so vivid, and they are easy to grow.

They have a sale after the show, open to the public.

Rhododendron

I had never seen a rhododendron before the flower show.

I don't know if they come in other colours.

I thought the buds were incredible.

Sort of like a pine cone, but different.

Crocuses

With the sun shining, the buds of the crocuses finally had a chance to open.

I counted 11 this morning.

The first flowers of spring in my garden.

But there will be more.

Skywatch Friday

The sun was out, seemingly for the first time in days.

Rabbitsfoot Fern

This rabbitsfoot fern completely fills its hanging basket.

The name comes from the roots that grow out of the rootball.

Iris

These irises are only four inches high, or thereabouts.

Can you imagine how they would add dimension to a bed of regular irises?

Cat at the Greenhouse

She is the official mouser of the horticulture department. She greets the security officer at the door every morning, at 5 AM, with a dead mouse.

Geese

As we headed out the door for our morning walk, there was a couple thousand geese passing overhead. They were actually flying south, but I think they were heading out to feed, rather than continuing their migration.
