The wind ruffled the small patch of open water, while the rising sun cast its golden light over the whole pond.
Getting closer, you can see the texture of the ice.
A different part of the pond, and the light has changed completely.
I am linking this post with Nature Footstep Catch the Light.

The patterns on the ice are beautiful, and I especially like the lighting in the first shots.
I love the patterns formed by the ice. Nature can make wonderful sculptures. Great photos!

Wonderful pattern and texture shots! Beautiful with the golden light!
Oh that ice is so beautiful! Fine crystal! Gorgeous. Makes me wish I'd seen this while we were still in Colorado, so I could have tried my hand at this (my cold hand ;)).
Such awesome shots, Judy -- of the light and the frozen pond. It was only a couple of years that I first saw a frozen lake and I was so fascinated. :)
Once again -- great images!!
Chilly but no ice yet. Your photos are chilling.
What can I say .. you always pull me in. I have to look close. It's just what you do.
Hope you are enjoying the Holiday ish time of year.

One of the best things I like about winter is patterns in the ice. And wow! I love the golden light. Perfect!
Wow. I love this! Our pond is quite frozen now.
This is the nicer part of the cold temperatures.
