The pine trees are preparing their cones for next year.
I am not sure of the timing of the process. Maybe I will remember to pay attention to it this year.

Pine Trees are my favorites and these shots display exactly why - they are beautiful
I really like your pictures of the snow on the pine needles.
...while they are still heavy with snow.
The cones have such an intricate pattern, beautiful.
These are incredible. I love the way the needles stop and caress the snow.
Come summer, when the pines are ready to fertilize the cones, my car will be covered with yellow pollen.
