My grandmother used to say that if the groundhog saw his shadow on February 2, he would go back to bed, knowing that spring would come right on schedule, in another six weeks.
But if he did not see his shadow, then winter would last for another month and a half.

Your grandmother was very wise. :) Happy Groundhog Day! We are over the hump and it's all downhill till spring. (Oh, yeah! Right!)
I just saw on tv that they don't see the shadow so we are on the right time this year. Can't wait to see green, lol! Happy Wednesday!
Watery Wednesday
Isn't that the truth! =) hehehee
Well, wise women:)
You had a very wise grandmother. It was cloudy and snowing here this morning, so I guess we can look for Spring in six weeks.
goundhog Phil said an early spring...I sure hope he's right...
Here in the Midwest we had 18" of snow, so the groundhog couldn't even dig out!! I'm worried about what that means...
oh, I love stories like this. :)
I saw on the news here yesterday that our local zoo's groundhog, er, hedgehog!, didn't see his shadow when they brought him out this year. There is a bit of controversy however - as they took him out in the SHADOW OF THE ZOO DIRECTOR - on a bright sunny (cold) morning. I guess now they can take credit no matter which direction the weather goes!
There certainly is wisdom in her reasoning! Alberta is said to be in for another six weeks of winter because Balzac Billy saw his shadow. Spring is just around the corner!
