Beautiful flowers Judy. I bet their yard is really pretty with all those colorful flowers. =)
There is the expression "death or gladiolas" : roman gladiators (fighting with the sword = gladio, and the flower has her name because of the form of the leaves looking like swords) were killed or survived. When they survived they were celebrated with lots of gladiolas. So it became the symbol of power and victory. Or they are just beautiful flowers :-)
